MERMAID

Shells, pearls and one starfish

Earrings

Six shapes, all small enough to wear on a Tuesday. The cowrie, the pearl, the starfish and a hoop that goes with everything. We keep the range short on purpose: three pairs in stock, one in production, one sold out at a time. Everything is nickel free, and the posts are surgical steel because pierced ears react to the cheap stuff.

01

What the gold actually is

Brass with an 18k gold plating between 2.5 and 3 microns. That is thicker than the 0.5 micron plating on fashion jewelry and thinner than solid gold. With normal use it lasts two to three years; if you wear the same pair every day and never take it off, expect a year. We say this before you buy, not after.

02

Weight and fit

The hoops weigh 2.1 g each and the studs 1.2 g, so they do not drag the lobe. Posts are 0.8 mm, which fits a standard piercing. If your holes are new or sensitive, the pearl drops are the lightest option and the starfish studs the smallest.

03

How to choose between the three

Hoops for everyday, pearls for something that needs to look considered, starfish for a gift or for a second piercing. If you only buy one pair, buy the hoops: they work with a white shirt, a swimsuit and a wedding guest dress, which is not true of the other two.

04

Pricing and repairs

Between 52 € and 74 €, no seasonal sales. If a post bends or a stone falls out within a year, send it back and we repair it for the cost of shipping. We do not replace lost single earrings for free, but we do sell a single one at half the pair price.

FAQ

Are they safe for sensitive ears?

Yes. Nickel-free brass with surgical steel posts. If you react to sterling silver, you may still react to the plating, so tell us before ordering and we will send the composition.

Can I wear them in the sea?

Salt water is fine for a swim, but rinse and dry them afterwards. Chlorine and sunscreen are what strip the plating, so take them off for the pool.

Do you sell single earrings?

Yes, at half the pair price, for any style except the sold-out ones. Message us on WhatsApp with the style and side.

How long does the gold last?

Two to three years with normal use, about one year if you never take them off. Plating wears where it rubs, usually the post and the inner edge of a hoop.
